Nervous to know what God thinks about you?

Reader, have you ever been nervous to know what God thinks about you?

I have.

I worried that God didn't care for me the way I hoped He did. That He was disappointed with me, or discouraged by my blunderings. Or worse, I worried He only tolerated me because He wanted to use me to reach those He truly cared about—the "more beloved" like you.

it wasn't true. But still, it was a story that persisted in various ways over decades until...

  • Until I started to experience God's character for myself.
  • Until I learned how to trade in lesser stories for greater ones.
  • Until I started seeing myself the way God sees me.
  • Until I begun to live from my true identity.

The late Timothy Keller has a great quote about this, "We cannot know God without knowing ourselves, and we cannot know ourselves without knowing God. The two kinds of knowledge are inter-dependent—they rise or fall together."

Reader, what if what God thinks about you, knows about you, is better than you could ever imagine? I promise, it is.

Empowering your walk,

Hey Reader. I got my boys “Wreck This Journal” books on purpose. Not just for fun.To interrupt something I see in them… and in me. Have you seen those journals? You’re supposed to scribble in them.Rip pages.Start in the middle.Make a mess on purpose. As Jared and I *creatively destroyed* our journals alongside them, I started wondering: What would it look like to interrupt that instinct a little in my life with God? Not less reverent.Just in a way that breaks the pressure to get everything...

Hi Reader. Have you ever noticed how Jesus shows us the Kingdom of Heaven through parables and pictures? Today, I’m sharing a new Guided Scripture on the YouVersion Bible App from Matthew 13:44, and I think it might change the way you see your Tuesday. “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field... A field is ordinary. Dirt. Work. The same route you drove this morning. The same inbox. The same kitchen. And that's exactly where the treasure is. If your days have felt more routine...

Reader, I prayed for you this morning. Because you’re on my email list, I pray for you.Because you are God’s dearly loved child, I pray for you.Because the enemy schemes to steal, kill, and destroy the good God has given you, I pray for you.Because our Father is good—planning your future, providing for your present, unmatched in power—I pray for you. Today I asked God for something specific on His heart for you today, and this is what I sensed in my spirit: I am here and I’m holding them....
