What if you started prayer in the middle?

Hey Reader. I got my boys “Wreck This Journal” books on purpose.

Not just for fun.
To interrupt something I see in them… and in me.

Have you seen those journals?
You’re supposed to scribble in them.
Rip pages.
Start in the middle.
Make a mess on purpose.

As Jared and I *creatively destroyed* our journals alongside them, I started wondering:

What would it look like to interrupt that instinct a little in my life with God?

Not less reverent.
Just in a way that breaks the pressure to get everything “right.”

Here are a few ways I’ve been trying that:

  • Start mid-thought​
    Instead of “Dear God,” just jump in.
    ​“Okay… this is where I actually am today…”​
    ​
  • Say the thing you’d normally edit out​
    The honest thought. The uncomfortable one.
    ​
  • Come with nothing to offer​
    No insight. No takeaway.
    ​“I don’t have anything today… but I’m here.”​
    ​
  • Ask God what He’d like to talk about today
    ​    Come anticipating He has something on His heart for you.

You don’t need to try all of these. Just pick one.

Or start here: “God, is there a place where You’re inviting me beyond my usual way of coming to You?”

And notice what shifts when you do.

God isn’t waiting for the tidy “final draft” version of you.
He meets you right here.
